The legal workforce is varied and ranges from those working to support solicitors and other regulated professionals, to those working in-house in central government and at local authorities, or in corporate organisations. This apprenticeship will train you for a paralegal role in commercial litigation, which covers disputes arising in matters of business such as corporate governance, banking transactions, mergers and acquisitions; debt recovery and insolvency, focusing on the recovery of money owed to a particular party; or personal injury, in which you’ll represent either a defendant or a claimant in a matter concerning an injury to the body or mind. You’ll be able to train as a paralegal in a number of roles, including senior claims handler, senior paralegal, paralegal team leader, litigation executive, personal injury specialist or fee earner.
Duration: 24 to 30 months
Relevant school subjects: Business studies
Entry requirements: GCSEs, A-levels or a proven ability to work at level 4, such as experience gained through employment or voluntary work
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
