“The athletics sporting excellence apprenticeship will see you work toward becoming a professional or semi-professional athlete”
This dedicated athletics advanced apprenticeship has been designed to meet the needs of young and talented athletes who have the realistic potential to achieve excellence in their sport and are seeking to perform at the highest level in that sport as their main career goal. If you have the potential, this apprenticeship will give you a better understanding of what it takes to perform at the highest level, including gaining access to high-quality facilities, expertise and equipment. You’ll also gain expertise in nutrition, physiology and goal setting, as well as ways to improve your life skills and how to progress your career to work in alternative sports employment areas. Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you could become a professional or semi-professional athlete, sports coach or a support officer in a high-performance environment.
Duration: 12 to 20 months
Relevant school subjects: PE
Entry requirements: Five GCSEs
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £18,000
