“Managing and supervising a waste management or recycling operation”
Waste management and recycling are increasingly important as populations grow and the environment strains under the impact of mankind in the technological age. The apprenticeship roles are all integral to the waste management process, from waste collection and transport, to recycling, processing and specialist operations. You’ll learn all about different aspects of the waste management industry. You may undertake roles in the collection, transport, treatment and final management of waste and recyclables at the supervisory level. This may include optimising the outputs from a treatment process or minimising waste within an organisation. Your apprenticeship may be with a local authority, a large private employer, a small to medium-sized enterprise, or even within a voluntary organisation.
Duration: 12 to 36 months
Relevant school subjects: Science and geography
Entry requirements: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels. Relevant experience would be advantageous
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
