As a coaching professional, you’ll work with a wide range of individuals and teams across different organisations, to empower and engage with them to enhance their professional performance.
There is a growing demand for coaching professionals, with work to include on-to-one coaching, team coaching, leadership coaching or skills that need to be embedded to support future ways of working.
You could be working with employers across a range of sectors such as health, finance or education and in private or public sectors, within national or multinational organisations.
Coaching is a way of leading in a non-directive manner, helping people to learn through deep listening and reflective, open questions, rather than instructing, giving advice or making suggestions.
You will aim to build self-belief in others, release potential and enable change for business improvement.
In your daily work, you’ll interact with individuals to coach as their primary contact, and within the business you may engage with the human resources team, learning and development teams and other professional bodies.
Occupational health, faith-based organisations and charities may also need specialised support to suit their circumstances
Typical job titles can include business coach, coaching practitioner, performance coach, team coach and wellbeing coach.
Core duties include:
- Plan, conduct and record coaching needs analysis
- Agree and develop coaching contracts with relevant parties
- Deliver coaching sessions
- Provide relevant support
- Evaluate effectiveness of your coaching
- Maintain records of coaching practice
Coaching professional in brief
Duration: 14 months
Relevant school subjects: Business studies
Entry requirements: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience, Level 3 childcare or other health related qualification.
Achievement upon completion: Level 5 (Advanced) – equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £21,000
