Support individuals affected by domestic and sexual abuse with compassion and professionalism
As a Domestic & Sexual Abuse Support Worker apprentice, you’ll provide essential support to individuals and communities impacted by domestic and sexual violence. Under the supervision of specialist teams, you’ll assist with risk assessment, safety planning, and emotional support to help clients regain control and access services.
You’ll gain knowledge of relevant legislation, trauma-informed practices, and safeguarding principles. On the job, you’ll conduct initial assessments, contribute to safety planning, and guide individuals to specialist services. You’ll also help facilitate support sessions, maintain secure case records, and share information responsibly in line with confidentiality rules.
Empathy, active listening, resilience, and clear communication are critical. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, external agencies (such as housing services, healthcare providers, and law enforcement), and legal professionals to ensure holistic care and protection.
