Assist the team of accountants with junior accounting duties
An accounts assistant—also known as a finance assistant—is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business. During the accounts assistant apprenticeship, you’ll be responsible for assisting the team of accountants by undertaking junior accounting duties. These can vary depending on the team structure and size of the business. Daily jobs could include basic bookkeeping activities, working with sales and purchase ledgers, running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct, and the recording of cash and data entry. This role will be available in almost any sector but potential employers could include corporate businesses, sole traders, partnerships, public sector, not-for-profit organisations and educational institutions. You may work in-house for an organisation or an accountancy firm, bookkeeping practice, or shared service provider, or be self-employed and work on behalf of several different clients.
Duration: 12 months

Entry requirements for the accounts assistant apprenticeship: Depend on employer
Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs
Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
