Business administration apprentice Harriet Cosgrove, 19, shares her career journey so far at AstraZeneca and what it means to see the fruits of your own labour
How long have you worked for AstraZeneca and what do you enjoy about your role?
I have worked at the company since September 2019 as a project administrator. What I enjoy most is the variety of people I get to work with and support across the business, on all different levels, from apprentices to department heads, and how I can see the benefit my support gives my team and their projects.
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship at AstraZeneca?
AstraZeneca’s apprenticeship programme gave me the perfect opportunity to develop myself and my skills in a working environment while also learning and completing my business administration course. Knowing that the support I give helps to deliver life changing medicines to patients is very rewarding.
How would you describe the culture at AstraZeneca?
At AstraZeneca, there is a very collaborative and diverse culture. Every day I work with new people from different backgrounds and levels of experience, and there are so many opportunities for self-development.
What has been the most rewarding/interesting project you have been involved in and why?
One of the most interesting projects I have been a part of is a new product introduction. I supported the project manager in many pieces of work that supported this project, so I was able to see an amazing drug being developed from the start, to it finally getting onto the packing line and out to patients.
