Building services design engineer apprenticeship

Maintain and enhance the quality of the environment and community

A building services design engineer will manage a team of engineers and technicians and, while collaborating with other construction professionals, design the various services found in buildings and infrastructure projects. Your work will include systems such as renewable and emerging technologies, energy management, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, drainage, lighting, power, water services, and communications. Buildings and infrastructure take on many forms, from newly built facilities to the refurbishment of premises for every sector of industry. You could work in a design consultancy, a contractor or a manufacturing company. During the building services design engineer apprenticeship you’ll also undertake the technical and commercial management of projects. Upon completion, you’ll achieve a bachelor’s degree in building services.

 

Duration: 60 months

Relevant school subjects: Maths, science and DT

Entry requirements for the building services design engineer apprenticeship: Three A-levels, including maths and physical science, or equivalent qualifications, or a level 3 apprenticeship as a building services design technician

Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree

Potential salary upon completion: £28,000 per annum
