Clean and decontaminate ventilation systems to ensure compliance with industry standards

Ventilation hygiene ensures that ventilation systems are maintained in a clean condition as required by statutory regulation, to ensure the wellbeing and safety of those within the built environment. A building services engineering ventilation hygiene technician cleans and decontaminates ventilation systems to ensure compliance with industry standards. During the building services engineering ventilation hygiene technician apprenticeship, you’ll learn to undertake condition risk assessments, pre-clean testing, clean, post-clean testing, and create a detailed profile of the ductwork system, including any remedial action. You’ll develop a detailed knowledge of systems and how they operate. You’ll be able to identify and plan work requirements from engineering drawings and client instructions; liaise with clients, other trades, and suppliers; solve problems within your scope of responsibility; and ensure compliance with standards.

 

Duration: 24 months

Entry requirements for the building services engineering ventilation hygiene technician apprenticeship: English and maths at level 2

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
