Prepare and maintain camera equipment for any given production or purpose
Found within the media rental industry, the main purpose of the camera prep technician is to prepare camera equipment that is complete, works effectively, is correctly maintained and is appropriately configured and accessorised to be suitable for a given production or purpose. During the camera prep technician apprenticeship, you’ll ensure that the customers who use production equipment are provided with the equipment and support they require, at the time and place they require it, so they are able to make full use of the equipment package. You’ll primarily be based on the camera floor or warehouse but you could also work on location. It is often shift-based and may involve working past expected hours to ensure deadlines are met. You’ll need a high level of attention to detail, crucial for ensuring that the production is able to work effectively to use the equipment without encountering costly technical issues. On completion of this apprenticeship, you may remain in, and progress within, the film and TV camera hire and loan sector.
