Work with individuals and their communities to address health and wellbeing needs, improve health, prevent ill health and reduce inequalities
As emphasis is increasing to improve the health and wellbeing of people within local communities, your work will address social, cultural, political, economical, commercial and environmental factors that shape the conditions in which people live. You’ll need to address the causes of poor health and wellbeing, as you work with individuals, groups and communities. You’ll have good knowledge about local services and resources available and be able to identify any possible gaps within the available services. During the community health and wellbeing worker apprenticeship, you’ll interact with individuals and groups of people, local health and wellbeing services and workers from other sectors such as faith leaders and councillors. You’ll be responsible for providing any relevant literature and information and in a range of languages. Other job titles could include live well coach, health trainer or community health champion.
Duration: 12 months
Relevant school subjects: Science
Entry requirements for the community health and wellbeing worker apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
