Craft bricklayer apprenticeship

Set out and lay bricks to construct and repair complex walls and features.

If you’re good with your hands, you might enjoy a craft bricklayer apprenticeship. During this apprenticeship you’ll be hands-on. You’ll learn how to set out and lay bricks, brick specials, blocks and other materials to construct and repair complex walls and features such as chimneys, battered, angled, radial and decorative masonry work. Craft bricklayers are the technical experts in their team, providing direction and advice to others, and advise on problem solving. Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will learn the art of complex masonry work on construction sites. And, you’ll also develop your skills in project management, communication, teamwork and health and safety compliance. Craft bricklayers can work on all kinds of projects, from the creation of specialist chimneys for a house, to the repair of a listed building, to a large-scale commercial project. Craft bricklayers work outdoors so this apprenticeship might suit you if you enjoy working with your hands, working outside rain or shine, and don’t mind working at height.
