Find information in diverse datasets to address complex problems
Data science is a broad and fast-moving field spanning maths and statistics, software engineering and communications. As a data scientist, you’ll learn to find information in diverse datasets to address complex problems and improve organisational processes. During the data scientist apprenticeship you’ll actively explore innovative ways to use existing and new statistical, algorithmic, predictive, machine learning and artificial intelligence tools and techniques, to find significant and valuable patterns in data and transform this into information for your organisation. Using a scientific approach, you’ll perform statistical analysis, build and validate models from the data, use programming practices, and maintain data, tools and processes to implement robust and valuable data solutions. In this role, you’ll need to be inquisitive, and be able to explore and visualise data of all kinds, find and present ‘stories’ within the data in a meaningful way. On completion, you’ll achieve a bachelor’s degree in data science.
Duration: 36 months
Relevant school subjects: Science, maths and ICT
Entry requirements for the data scientist apprenticeship: Three A-levels, including one science, technology, engineering or mathematics subject, or a level 3 apprenticeship, or other relevant qualifications or relevant experience, particularly if strong analytical skills are demonstrated
Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree
Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
