Early years educator apprenticeship

Play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe

An early years educator is a highly trained professional who plays a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. In this role, you’ll be able to work in a range of settings, including full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes and as a childminder. During the early years educator apprenticeship you may work on your own or supervise others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by the government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to the age of five. Your tasks will include planning and leading activities, supporting the development of numeracy and language skills through games and play, keeping each child safe and secure, and meeting the care of each individual child, such as feeding, changing nappies and administering medicine. To carry out this role successfully, you’ll need to be a good team player with a great deal of care and compassion, be honest and trustworthy and show commitment to the children. With additional experience, you’ll be able to become the manager of an early years setting.
