A facilities services operative can provide security, support maintenance and engineering, and carry out cleaning, catering, front-of-house logistics, post-room services and portering. It’s a broad ranging job that can be undertaken in a number of environments, from commercial properties to hospitals. During the facilities services operative apprenticeship, you’ll increasingly collaborate with technical experts and other related roles, such as security personnel, cleaners, catering and front-of-house staff. You may work alone in a small enterprise or in teams of up to anything from 30 to 500 people in a large-scale operation, depending on the size of the contract. The role is usually fulfilled working Monday to Friday and night working is rarely involved.

Entry requirements for the facilities services operative apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or experience
Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs
Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
