Fencing installers play a crucial role across various sectors, from domestic to industrial, highways, and infrastructure. A fence installer apprentice is responsible for the installation of different types of fences, gates and barriers, across many different environments. As a result, fencing offers a wide range of career opportunities. During the fencing installer apprenticeship, you’ll work to detailed specifications and standards to ensure correct and safe installation takes place. You’ll develop the ability to read and understand specifications and plans, prepare sites and select relevant materials to carry out installation, maintenance or repairs to meet the relevant contract requirements. As part of the apprenticeship, you may interact with architects and the public. The work will include using a wide variety of materials, tools and machinery.

 

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: DT

Entry requirements for the fencing installer apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
