Maintain machinery and equipment in the food and drinks industry
The food and drink industry is an exciting place to be a maintenance engineer. World-class companies in the industry use some of the most innovative, modern and technically automated equipment available to manufacture a range of food and drink products for consumers. During the food and drink maintenance engineer apprenticeship, you’ll mainly work with mechanical and electrical equipment and production systems. You’ll need to maximise the benefits of the technology and equipment you work with. The engineering activities that you could carry out include routine maintenance, fault finding and diagnosis, testing, and commissioning. This apprenticeship will teach you what is required to ensure that maintenance activities contribute to optimising food and drink production levels.
Duration: 42 months
Relevant school subjects: Science and food technology
Entry requirements for the food and drink maintenance engineer apprenticeship: Four GCSEs in English, maths, a science and ICT, or equivalent qualifications
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
