Gather evidence for the police, through forensic sampling, toxicology, documenting injuries and providing a statement
As an advanced forensic practitioner apprentice, you’ll play a vital role in the criminal justice system. Your work will focus on gathering evidence to support investigations and ensure that justice is served fairly. During the advanced forensic practitioner apprenticeship you’ll work in environments like Sexual Assault Referral Centres or police custody settings and will make important decisions that respect the rights of the individuals and the broader needs of the justice system. You’ll choose between two specialisations: sexual offence, where you’ll support victims of sexual violence by providing healthcare, safeguarding, and creating tailored care plans; or custody, where you’ll ensure the wellbeing of detainees in police custody by assessing their health and mental state. In either advanced forensic practitioner role, you’ll work closely with the police, healthcare professionals, and legal teams, often leading and making key decisions to protect the individual and the public.
