Identify and lead the delivery of change across organisational functions and processes
Improvement practitioners use a blend of lean and Six Sigma, project and change management principles and tools to identify and lead the delivery of change across organisational functions and processes. They can be found across all sectors and functions, including automotive, banking, engineering, food products, ICT, property, retail and telecommunications. Typically, you’ll lead smaller projects in an improvement practitioner role, or play a key supporting role in a larger programme. During the improvement practitioner apprenticeship you’ll tackle issues that may require swift problem solving, or reoccurring challenges that require in-depth analysis and the implementation of a range of effective and sustainable countermeasures. You’ll be the focal point for all stakeholders and responsible for communication throughout a project. There are a variety of job titles associated with the occupation, including business improvement practitioner, continuous improvement manager and process excellence manager.
Duration: 14 months
Relevant school subjects: Business studies
Entry requirements for the improvement practitioner apprenticeship: Depends on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications. Alternatively, relevant experience may be advantageous, particularly if commercial acumen is exhibited
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
