Support auditors in reviewing how well organisations manage risk, controls and compliance
Working in internal audit, you’ll help organisations understand whether their processes, systems and controls are working properly. Internal audit technicians can work across the public, private and voluntary sectors, including financial services, local authorities, government departments, higher education, healthcare, accountancy firms and large businesses. During the internal audit technician apprenticeship, you’ll support auditors by checking records, reviewing procedures, gathering evidence and helping to identify risks or areas for improvement. In your day-to-day work, you may look at areas such as finance, compliance, customer service, HR, assets, risk management or governance. You’ll learn how to plan and support audit work, communicate with different teams, keep clear records and report findings in a professional way. You’ll also need to work objectively, follow ethical standards and understand the importance of confidentiality, accuracy and independence. This role suits someone who is organised, analytical, confident with detail and interested in how businesses and organisations make decisions and improve the way they operate.
