Land-based service engineering technician apprenticeship

Provide advanced technical support and guidance across a diverse range of plant and equipment

During the land-based service engineering technician apprenticeship you’ll prepare, install and hand over complex technologically advanced machinery, plant and equipment, and verify its performance to the manufacturer’s specification and customer’s satisfaction. You’ll diagnose and repair complex faults in machinery, plant and equipment, and conduct inspections and compile condition reports, as well as repair proposals, estimates and quotations. This role requires a blend of skills and knowledge, covering power units, power trains, fabrication, mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic system applications. You’ll develop an understanding of the interface between machine, biological systems and the working environment. The nature of the industry will present technical challenges ranging from simple mechanics to the diagnosis and repair of complex mechanical, electronic and telemetry systems.

 

Duration: 36 months

Relevant school subjects: Science and engineering

Entry requirements for the land-based service engineering technician apprenticeship: Four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, maths and a science subject, as well as an understanding of ICT

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
