Leisure team member apprenticeship

Support, enhance and deliver the day-to-day operations and services of a leisure or fitness facility

As a leisure team member apprentice, you’ll be a key player in the leisure industry, helping run fitness facilities and promoting public health. You’ll assist with tasks like keeping the place clean, setting up equipment, and helping customers. After your leisure team member apprenticeship, you might find work as a lifeguard, swimming teacher, or gym instructor, and lead group activities. In your day-to-day, you’ll focus on giving great service to customers, answering questions, and sorting out small issues. During the leisure team member apprenticeship, you’ll learn lots of skills, like how to communicate well, do different tasks around the facility, and lead fun activities for different groups of people. You will need to know about safety rules and laws, and you should be polite and professional when dealing with people. A successful candidate for this apprenticeship will have experience with working as a team, solving problems, taking the lead, and staying positive, all while helping people stay happy, and helping the business achieve its goals.

 

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: PE

Entry requirements for the leisure team member apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
