Manage the day-to-day operation of a leisure facility

The leisure duty manager is in charge of the day-to-day ‘front line’ operation of a leisure facility, such as a swimming pool, multi-functional sports hall, fitness suite, crèche, children’s soft play, health suite, climbing wall or outdoor sports track. It will be your responsibility to ensure the facility is prepared for use in accordance with the planned activity programme and all areas are maintained to the highest possible standards of safety, cleanliness, security and operational effectiveness. During the leisure duty manager apprenticeship you’ll provide leadership to a diverse range of staff such as lifeguards, receptionists, sports coaches, fitness teams and crèche workers, and manage staff performance and their ongoing development. As manager, you’ll make changes to improve customers’ experience. Reporting to a general manager, you’ll assist in implementing management systems, records and finances.
