Run and maintain heavy mobile plant equipment

A mineral processing mobile and static plant operator runs either fixed or mobile heavy plant equipment efficiently and safely. During the mineral processing mobile and static plant operator apprenticeship you’ll be expected to become competent at operating one item of plant equipment during the apprenticeship. As an operator, you’ll train in the production of high-quality products, such as ready mixed concrete, mortar, asphalt, cement, and precast or prestressed concrete. Your duties will include carrying out preventive and routine maintenance inspections of equipment and housekeeping. You’ll also report plant defects, conduct risk assessments, work alone and in a team, and demonstrate good product knowledge and a strong discipline towards safety, health and the environment. It will also be your responsibility to report stock availability and quality.

 

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: DT

Entry requirements for the mineral processing mobile and static plant operator apprenticeship: English and maths at Level 1

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £24,000 per annum
