Lifting technician apprenticeship

Prepare and operate different cranes to lift and place a variety of loads in the workplace

The lifting technician apprenticeship will prepare you to operate a tower crane, crawler crane or mobile crane, depending on your employer. Whichever you opt for, you’ll play a vital role by supporting site projects in which you’ll have responsibility for operating the crane to lift materials and equipment to designated work areas on a construction site. During the lifting technician apprenticeship you’ll learn to interpret and comply with given contract information and work with the lifting team to carry out lifting activities. Being able to work safely and at height are integral for this apprenticeship. Progression from this apprenticeship could lead to a crane supervisor role at level 4 within the construction industry. This apprenticeship will deliver sufficient competence, underpinning knowledge and understanding to allow you to meet the requirements of the appropriate card certification schemes.

 

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: DT

Entry requirements for the lifting technician apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
