An industrial thermal insulation technician specialises in creating custom patterns using technical tools to make special coverings for pipes and equipment. These coverings protect the equipment from damage and keep workers safe from extreme temperatures in factories and plants. As an apprentice, you’ll not only become skilled in your work but also learn to supervise and help manage projects. Throughout your industrial thermal insulation technician apprenticeship, you’ll ensure that the work meets high standards and follows the plans exactly. You’ll also be responsible for getting the materials needed, organising when tasks will be done, and making sure everything meets the required quality. Ultimately, you’ll become an expert in keeping equipment safe and workers protected, while also learning important skills in managing projects and ensuring quality work.

 

Duration: 24 months

Relevant school subjects: DT

Entry requirements for the industrial thermal insulation technician apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or experience, particularly where practical or technical skills are demonstrated

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
