Ensure that sufficient materials and products are available to meet customer requirements
A mineral products technician works across several mineral extractive industries, such as quarrying, concrete production, cement manufacture, cementitious products, asphalt production, asphalt laying or clay manufacture. During the mineral products technician apprenticeship you’ll require a detailed technical understanding of the part of the mineral extractive industry in which you work, so your apprenticeship will cater to one of the particular specialisms. You’ll ensure that sufficient materials and products are available to meet your customers’ requirements, while ensuring all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements/legislation are complied with. You’ll supervise and coordinate operations in a safe manner, maintain production to meet customer needs, and optimise production and maintain facilities to a high standard. In your daily work, you’ll interact with colleagues across all departments, including managers, contract labour, customers and members of the public. Typically, this includes a balance between office and outside work, observing and carrying out operational tasks.
