Carry out quality control and welding inspections for the nuclear industry
The nuclear welding inspection technician apprenticeship will prepare you for this highly technical quality control role, in which you’ll ensure the safety and integrity of nuclear-related fabrications across nuclear licensed sites for waste management, decommissioning and construction, and operational nuclear plants, or in manufacturing facilities that supply the industry. The nuclear industry has unique quality requirements that are underpinned by regulations, specifications, standards and detailed engineering documents, which you’ll need to master if you’re to carry out this role. You’ll develop into a technician who can operate in a challenging environment where quality standards are paramount and safety is the overriding priority. This work will involve carrying out detailed observations, making detailed records and giving technical feedback.

Entry requirements for the nuclear welding inspection technician apprenticeship: Five GCSEs, including maths and English
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £27,000 per annum
