Create beautiful images using photography knowledge and skill 

As part of a photographer apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to produce and manage photographic assets for diverse clients. You could play a vital role in various sectors like government, media, and advertising, and could specialise in areas like weddings or portraits. Photographers interact with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and operate equipment to capture high-quality images. You might also learn more about the environmental and ethical impacts of photography, and how to reduce those harms. Working under supervision, as part of the photographer apprenticeship you’ll follow direction and listen to feedback to meet clients’ needs. You could work in studios or outdoor locations, to produce images of digital or film cameras. Good candidates for the photographer apprenticeship will be good with customers, work well independently, and have a good artistic eye. 

Duration: 18 months  

Relevant school subjects: Art, DT 

Entry requirements for the content creator apprenticeship: Depends on employer, but you’ll likely need a portfolio showing an existing interest in photography and possibly relevant A-levels 

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree  

Potential salary upon completion: £22,000
