Organise, maintain, set up, and remove temporary traffic measures 

This job is crucial for road users’ safety. Found in the construction sector, lead traffic management operative apprentices are responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic equipment to keep roadworks safe. You could work on various projects, from motorways to large-scale events, ensuring safety for workers and the public. In the lead traffic management operative apprenticeship, you might learn to handle emergencies like accidents, often being the first on the scene. You might also need to drive vehicles and operate machinery like forklifts to set up safety zones. The job involves outdoor work in all weather conditions, sometimes at during unsociable hours like at night or over weekends. As such, an ideal candidate will be good at working as part of a team and staying calm when managing stressful situations. 

Duration: 18 months  

Relevant school subjects:  Maths, English, Business Studies

Entry requirements for the content creator apprenticeship: Depends on employer. You’ll definitely need to meet age and licensing requirements for driving a range of vehicles by the time the apprenticeship is finished. 

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate) – equivalent to GCSEs 

Potential salary upon completion: £23,500
