Public relations (PR) and communications concerns the building, protecting and maintaining of positive reputations for brands, organisations and individuals. It also concerns the way those brands, organisations and individuals communicate about themselves, their products or their services with the public, via different methods. On a PR and communications assistant apprenticeship, you’ll either work in an agency or in-house for a brand. You’ll communicate with different people, such as the media, the public, internal colleagues or any number of different audiences to get your client’s or organisation’s message across and influence opinions and behaviour in the most effective way. You’ll be responsible for researching and understanding your client or organisation’s goals, and then using your digital and communication expertise to support the day-to-day delivery of effective campaigns in order to deliver specific or organisational objectives.

Relevant school subjects: English
Entry requirements for the PR and communications assistant apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience, particularly where strong communication is demonstrated
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
