Rehabilitation worker—visual impairment apprenticeship

Help people with visual impairment lead normal lives

Working within the statutory, voluntary and private social care sector as a visual impairment rehabilitation worker, you’ll assess individual needs and formulate, deliver and evaluate professional person-centred rehabilitation training to visually impaired people, to develop and enhance the skills and confidence they need to maximise their independence. During the rehabilitation worker—visual impairment apprenticeship, you’ll be an advocate for visually impaired people, the sight loss sector and your employer to support, design and influence the development of services and promote accessibility, equality, social integration and the societal contribution of people with a visual impairment. On completion of this apprenticeship, you’ll have met the level of competence needed to secure professional registration with the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network.

Duration: 24 months

Entry requirements for the rehabilitation worker—visual impairment apprenticeship: Disclosure and Barring Service check and pass grades in GCSE maths and English

Achievement upon completion: Level 5 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree

Potential salary upon completion: £26,000 per annum
