Protect vulnerable individuals from harm or abuse, and support adults to live independently

Social work is an exciting and fulfilling international profession. During the social worker apprenticeship, you’ll work with adults, children, carers and families in a range of different settings to support and promote positive change in people’s lives in order to improve their wellbeing and independence. You’ll use your professional judgement and build relationships with a variety of individuals and communities, as well as with other professionals and agencies. In your role you’ll assess, plan, implement and evaluate complex situations. This requires an ability to critically reflect and make decisions within a clear professional code of ethics. As a registered social worker, you’ll engage in protecting individuals from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation. You’ll work in a way that is compassionate and takes account of all aspects of the individual’s life, ensuring their voice is central to decision making. You will use your professional expertise to work, assess, plan, implement, evaluate and intervene, putting the needs of people first. You’ll be a good communicator, able to talk openly, honestly and accurately, treating people with compassion, dignity and respect. On completion, you’ll achieve an honours degree in social work.

Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree

Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
