Telecoms field operative apprenticeship

Work on the copper and fibre connections to 4G and 5G services, homes and businesses, from local telephone exchanges

This role is integral to building, providing or repairing telecom services for commercial or residential customers. During the telecoms field operative apprenticeship, you’ll work on the copper and fibre connections to 4G and 5G services, homes and businesses from local telephone exchanges, which deliver telephone, internet, data and TV services to households and businesses. In your daily work, you could be working on telecom equipment in a telephone exchange, at height, in underground networks, in residential properties and business properties, at the side of the road and in any other places where a telecom service is required. This field-based role will require you to work under supervision, alone or as part of a team as required. Your work will be allocated to you on a daily basis either from your line manager or a work allocation centre, via an electronic device. The output and quality of your work will be audited by your line manager or an external auditor on a regular basis.

 

Duration: 15 months

Relevant school subjects: Science and engineering

Entry requirements for the telecoms field operative apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000
