Work with and provide technical and admin support to chartered town planners
The broad purpose of this occupation is to work with and provide technical and administrative support to chartered town planners, delivering new developments and to shape and create sustainable places for the benefit of the public. During the town planning assistant apprenticeship you’ll manage process applications and may need to help members of the public or clients with the planning system, explaining its rules and requirements. As an assistant you’ll research and compile site history and undertake site analysis for developments, producing documents and graphical representations. The role is varied, mainly office based with meetings and visits on site. You’ll be expected to manage your workload to set deadlines and work in accordance with health and safety and environmental considerations.

Entry requirements for the town planning assistant apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications or experience.
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £21,000
