Work with young people to help with their personal, social and educational development
During the youth worker apprenticeship you’ll be responsible for working with young people, aged 11 to 19, or 25 for those with additional needs, to plan, deliver and evaluate programmes for both individuals and groups. You’ll be supervised by a line manager, but may need to manage other staff, such as volunteers, assistants and peer mentors. You may find yourself helping to build management, such as youth clubs, dealing with budgets and other administrative tasks. In your daily work you’ll interact with charitable organisations, and within the community services, such as education, health and social services, working alongside fundraisers, families and professionals. You’ll need to take a positive interest in young people’s concerns and ideas and work by personal example, encouraging and facilitating cooperation and trust.
