Management and leadership skills have a major impact on the development, productivity and performance of organisations of all sizes and across all sectors of the economy. The best leaders and managers are innovative, creative, visionary and inspirational. Managers and team leaders oversee one or more employees or departments to make sure they carry out assigned duties as required. It’s up to them to make the most of company resources in order to keep the wheels turning and generate a profit. As a management apprentice, you may be involved in planning, allocating and monitoring the work of the team, giving feedback, briefing teams, supporting team members, managing conflict, resolving problems, procuring supplies, project management, agreeing budgets, and managing and improving customer service. You’ll need to be sensitive to issues such as ethnicity, culture, gender and disability.

Duration: 12 to 36 months

Relevant school subjects: Business studies

Entry requirements: Depend on employer

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate); Level 3 (Advanced); Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above; Level 5 (Higher)

Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
