Retail covers a host of businesses, from market stalls and independent shops to national chains and large superstores. The retail apprenticeship will train you in a range of skills that can be used across this vast sector. As an apprentice, your role will vary depending on your employer. An artistic flair could point you in the direction of visual merchandising, helping to create window and in-store displays. Or you could work in a sales role, helping customers to choose products, dealing with their queries and processing payments. This advanced apprenticeship will focus your training on gaining specific skills in your preferred speciality. In this apprenticeship, you’ll have significant responsibility and gain important management skills.
Duration: 15 months
Relevant school subjects: Business studies
Entry requirements: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £18,000 per annum
