Work with your values
Imagine what’s next: Faith Thomas, business analyst apprentice, on her role with Lloyds Banking Group
When I was imagining what I wanted for my future, I knew I wanted to work somewhere that aligned with my values. When I heard the uplifting stories from Lloyds Banking Group employees about their experiences, I decided to apply for an apprenticeship. Now, I’m on a business analyst apprenticeship Level 4.
My day-to-day as an apprentice is always unique and dynamic. Sometimes I’m leading and attending meetings, or documenting and analysing data and information, or testing in the development environment. I’m currently working with cloud technology, which has been making significant differences within the tech industry and helping Lloyds Banking Group stay secure. I’ve completed PEGA cloud training on this to get better insight into what it does and how it works — which I found fascinating.
The training I receive as an apprentice makes a crucial difference to my development and the career I’m building. Through regular training, I’m working towards my business analyst apprenticeship qualifications which will help me to get ahead. While I grow, management are so supportive and collaborative — always ready to lend a hand.
A particular element of my apprenticeship that I’m passionate about is my work in the Apprentice Ambassador Network and the BOLD Network. I’m so proud to have been selected to be a part of these groups, which help advocate for diversity and inclusion among other exciting initiatives. I really feel like my voice is not only heard, but appreciated. As part of this responsibility, I recently filmed with the Department of Education for the Get the Jump campaign.
I came into Lloyds Banking Group with a good understanding of what they’re all about, especially their mission of Helping Britain Prosper and their commitment to sustainability. I grew up being a customer of some of their different offerings, so I knew and trusted the business before I became a part of it. As an apprentice, it’s important that I kickstart my career in the right place for me personally and professionally.
With such a caring culture that truly focuses on my development, I feel like I’m exactly where I need to be to create the best future possible. I hope to work to progress further from my current junior role to a manager role in future. I’m excited to see just how far I can go.
The culture is very supportive. The people encourage you to achieve your goals and help you to get there.
