CITB apprentice Gabriel Lynch, from Shipley, has taken every available opportunity to learn and understand all aspects of the work of his employer Barrett Homes
Going about his business with energy and enthusiasm and always aiming to perform to the best of his abilities has seen Gabe fast-track through his training and the company’s ranks and has seen Gabe recognised as CITB’s Apprentice of the Year.
Gabe, now 23, had no previous experience of the construction housebuilding sector, but in seeking to develop a career, he was attracted by the dynamic opportunities presented by studying and working in a business related to the built environment.
His efforts have been recognised by Barrett Homes’ managing director with full support for Gabe to join the Barratt degree apprentice programme, which offers a BSc (hons) degree in residential development and quantity surveying.
Gabe proves that commitment, teamwork and a willingness to learn are the most important attributes of a CITB apprentice.
A CITB apprenticeship combines on-site experience with college learning to provide the right balance of training and real-life experience and you will earn as you learn. There many different apprenticeships available in construction; some familiar, but there are plenty that might just surprise you.
