19-year-old Helen Beal is realising her dreams of becoming a tattoo artist after starting her apprenticeship at Absolute Art Tattoo through Intraining
Helen is now studying NVQ level 1 in both English and maths, while completing her apprenticeship in customer service.
At work, she is learning about health and safety, dealing with customers and the traits of the business, while also designing tattoos for customers.
Helen said: “This is my first job since leaving school, but it is the job I have always wanted and I now feel as though I have a future and a purpose. Drawing and designing is my talent, so it’s great that I can put it to use.”
Rakesh Kachhela, employer engagement consultant at Intraining, added: “This is a wonderful outcome for both Helen and Absolute Art Tattoo. She has got the job she has always wanted and, through ongoing training and qualifications, can develop it into a great career, while the company has a great apprentice and financial assistance coming their way.”
Neill Forty, owner of Absolute Art Tattoo, recommends that other businesses go to Intraining for advice and support on recruiting and training staff. He says: “Helen is doing fine, so it is working out nicely for both her and us. She is designing tattoos and developing her drawing skills, but we will teach her the art of tattooing later on.”
