Thomas Lawson has been named as the winner of JTL’s National Apprentice of the Year Award 2019 at 28 years of age. This astonishing achievement is the culmination of an apprenticeship course working as an electrician at Picow Electrical Engineering
Tom completed his apprenticeship in just three years, which demonstrates his commitment to his work and career.
Tom joined Picow after he had finished his A-levels at the age of 19. After spending time in the Army, he decided to return to Picow to start an apprenticeship. Throughout his training he was able to carry out all aspects of the role of an electrician.
“Tom was regarded by all on the project to be a key member of the team and was often given technical works way above his expected level of experience.”
Over the course of his apprenticeship Tom has been praised by Picow for his commitment to the job and the quality of his work.
“Due to Tom’s professional and mature attitude he was able to not only develop his own skills and knowledge but also that of his fellow apprentices, making himself available to help out with passing on his training in the best installation practices and information they could learn.”
Tom has now moved on to the next phase of his career and his employer, Picow, is already planning to move Tom into a junior project engineer role while studying for his HNC.
“Tom has set the standard for all apprentices that follow behind him in the Picow electrical apprenticeship scheme.”
