Dominic is a finance apprentice at the at the Ministry of Defence – Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S)
The DE&S finance apprenticeship offers a first-class training package to support the attainment of an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) level 3 and 4 qualification.
Dominic said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of my career at DE&S as the work which goes on in the organisation is unique.”
“I found the transition into such a large working environment an interesting one. During the first week of the induction I was taught the basics of how DE&S and the Ministry of Defence works. The apprentice scheme management team were well organised and made lots of opportunities for the new apprentices to talk and get to know each other, which made everyone feel much more at ease.”
“My first placement in DE&S was with the tax team. They were very welcoming and made me feel involved from a very early stage. My thoughts and opinions were welcomed, and they made me responsible for the delivery of certain tasks, which in turn made me feel as though I was actively contributing to the team’s performance. They were happy for me to ask questions and spent time teaching me how the team operated and contributed to the wider organisation.”
“As an apprentice I will be exposed to a wide variety of exciting projects that would be unavailable elsewhere. I fully believe the apprenticeship has put me in a great position to build a strong career at DE&S.”
