RAF: Sam Cole

22-year-old Sam Cole is a senior aircraftman in the Royal Air Force

Sam is currently serving as a logistics supply, storage and distribution specialist at RAF Odiham in Hampshire and has been in the Royal Air Force (RAF) for almost four years.

Before joining the RAF, Sam worked at Sainsbury’s as a customer services assistant, but he was drawn to a career in RAF Logistics for the huge diversity the trade has to offer. Sam said: “I enjoy the diversity my trade allows me. Since finishing my apprenticeship I have worked in a warehouse environment, the office environment, receipts and dispatch and have been given the opportunity to travel around the world. Becoming a Logistics specialist in the Royal Air Force has been my greatest decision to date.”

Since joining the RAF, Sam has completed his apprenticeship in Warehouse, Storage and Distribution and, thanks to the extensive educational opportunities available to serving personnel, he is currently working towards gaining further NVQ qualifications. Sam is eager to continue with his trade-related learning: “I plan to continue learning through the NVQ system and ultimately undertake a degree in Logistics Management with the support of the RAF.”
