Leia Skinner completed a business administration apprenticeship at Bea-utiful Design & Print with support from Sussex Coast College Hastings
Michael Tyrrell at Bea-utiful Design & Print took on business administration apprentice Leia to help support his growing start-up business.
“As a new start-up company, the fact that our first employee was an apprentice was a huge advantage. We were able to select from applicants that the college had already interviewed, ensuring a good match and only strong applicants. Then, once we had employed Leia, the course structure was there to educate both the apprentice and us as a business. There was help with elements of training, creating systems and policies that have assisted everyone’s development greatly.”
“Leia has now finished her apprenticeship and she has a very bright future with us, she is an asset to the business. She is now going on to do leadership training so we can bring in new employees under her management in the near future. I can’t thank the apprenticeship team at Sussex Coast College Hastings enough for their support.”
For Leia, becoming an apprentice was the ideal place to start her career.
“My apprenticeship has enabled me to secure a job that I love, while learning and getting paid for it. I’ve learnt a diverse range of skills, not just from the apprenticeship scheme but also from my mentor and colleagues who have knowledge and experience that they are more than happy to pass on.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being an apprentice at Bea-utiful Design & Print, and look forward to completing my leadership training and to my future at the company.”
