An assistant accountant provides support to internal and external customers and will work either as an assistant accountant within practice or within the finance function of an organisation. You’ll assist with day-to-day financial activities such as data entry, month-end management accounts and year-end financial statements. You may also help to meet regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations. You’ll learn to apply a transparent and objective manner in all actions and interactions to ensure that you meet the ethical requirements of the profession. As well as ensuring full competency as an assistant accountant, the assistant accountant apprenticeship will provide you with the foundation for progression into a number of career paths.

Entry requirements for the assistant accountant apprenticeship: Five GCSEs, including maths and English
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £24,000 per annum
