Barbering professional apprenticeship

Gain barbering skills and provide outstanding service to clients. 

An established occupation in the hair and beauty sector, barbers are skilled at barbering and provide excellent service to their clients with creativity and imagination. During this apprenticeship you will learn to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of barbering techniques, style and finish hair to create variety of looks, and cut facial hair into shape and provide shaving services. You’ll also learn to work with all hair types, characteristics and classifications ranging from straight hair to very curly hair with texture. You can use your skills in all kinds of work environments, from small micro barbershops to large high street premises. Barbering is always client facing, so employers will be looking for people who are confident in speaking with customers. You’ll also need to have good attention to detail and a creative flair. 

Duration: 18 months 

Relevant school subjects: Art 

Entry requirements for barbering professional apprenticeship: You need to be 16 or over, and you might be asked to demonstrate interest in Barbering. 

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate) – equivalent to GCSE 

Potential salary upon completion: £20,000
