
Service, maintain and repair equipment used in the construction and allied industries
This occupation provides a vital support service to the country’s infrastructure projects, such as power generation, roads, rails and airports. Your main purpose will be to service, maintain and repair the wide range of construction-based equipment used within the construction, plant and tool hire industry, as well as allied industries such as plant, demolition and quarrying. You could be working on equipment such as mobile cranes, excavators, disc cutters, crushers, rail equipment and water pumps, so they continue to function correctly, safely and efficiently. Your main duties will include equipment checks, services and fault-finding activities and the removal, repair and refit of any components. During the construction equipment maintenance mechanic apprenticeship you may work onsite, as a mobile mechanic or in a workshop, and may need to work weekends or evenings to cover breakdowns or maintenance projects. Other job titles could include maintenance engineer, plant fitter and workshop fitter.
Duration: 24 months

Entry requirements for the construction equipment maintenance mechanic apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but relevant experience would be advantageous.
Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs
Potential salary upon completion: £25,000
