Provide daily management, maintenance, conservation, inspiration and protection of the natural environment
As well as the management, maintenance, conservation and protection of the natural environment, on the countryside ranger apprenticeship you’ll also help to inspire people and encourage them to engage with their natural environment. You could be employed by organisations such as National Trust, Wildlife Trusts, RSPB, Woodland Trusts, Canal and River Trust, or National Park Authorities, Forestry England or Natural England. Your daily work could include organising, supervising, and delivering land management, conservation and community engagement tasks, as well as managing small-scale projects and working alongside different interest groups. You’ll be working outdoors, often remotely, and in all weathers, sometimes responding to events that impact the natural environment, such as landslips, fires or pollution. During the countryside ranger apprenticeship you may be responsible for planning and delivering projects, such as creating a new route or setting up a new grazing project. As a frontline representative, you’ll need to display the organisation’s values and actively engage with the public in a positive manner.
