Collect, organise and study data to provide business insight
A data analyst manages, cleanses, abstracts and aggregates data, then conducts a range of analytical studies on that data. Your projects will vary, as you’ll need to provide technical data solutions to a range of issues. During the data analyst apprenticeship you’ll learn to document and report the results of data analysis activities, and make recommendations to improve business performance. You’ll develop a good understanding of data structures, database systems and procedures, and the range of analytical tools used to undertake a range of different types of analyses. Integral to the data analyst role are the abilities to represent data visually and to effectively present your conclusions. To succeed in this apprenticeship, you’ll need to be a creative and logical thinker, and have good analytical and problem-solving skills. The data analyst apprenticeship is recognised for entry onto the register of IT technicians.
Duration: 24 months
Relevant school subjects: Maths and ICT
Entry requirements for the data analyst apprenticeship: Five GCSEs and/or A-levels, a level 3 apprenticeship, or other relevant qualifications and experience, or an aptitude test with a focus on functional maths
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £27,000 per annum
